  • 8.6.07 UTW-rpc 1.5 released posted in Geekery

Bout freakin’ time. Adds Simple Tagging support, new xmlrpc methods, slug support and more. There’s a fix for TextMate users who broke with WP 2.2.1. When they get the date deal sorted out, I’ll update the plugin. Latest version on the Autotag/UTW-rpc page. There’s a new version of Autotag in testing right now, so TextMate users, patience, please…

  • 6.26.07 XMLRPC Delays posted in Geekery

I’m putting the UTW-rpc bundle on hold for a minute while the Wordpress xmlrpc crew works out a few kinks in the date formatting. Because the plugin directly replaces the post and retrieve functions in the xmlrpc.php file, it needs to mirror the final outcome of the debate. So I think I’ll just avoid releasing a plugin that will break with an update that’s almost certain to come out immediately after. Well, more to the point, the plugin would break the update, albeit in an unnoticeable fashion (rendering it ineffective).

I finally got around to making the display of code better on the blog. The rest of this post is an example to test out a couple of TextMate drag commands, external code linking, scriptaculous effects and other niceties. If it all works, I’ll share all the tools.

  • 2.21.07 Upgrade and UTW-RPC Test posted in Website Updates

RUDE was kind enough to inform me that Wordpress 2.1.1 would include some changes to the xmlrpc file that might affect the UTW-RPC plugin. So I tested it on my local server and it seems alright, I ran a diff and didn’t see that any areas overridden by UTW-RPC were changed, and this is the official live test to make sure everything is cool. If you’re reading this, then I’m approving UTW-RPC 1.2 for use with Wordpress 2.1.1. I just checked my other xmlrpc plugin (Related Posts RPC) and everything’s working fine.

I made the switch to Wordpress 2.1 with a grand total of 3 minutes of downtime on my live server. For anyone who’s curious, I did a full backup of the blog and set it up on my local server with MAMP and Headdress. The database was too large to import with […]

  • 11.7.06 A new plan of attack posted in Geekery

I’m giving up on the idea of writing modular plugins for every hook I want to add to xmlrpc. They don’t play nice together and require too many hacks to the blogging client. I’m going to write one massive plugin that adds all of the hooks I want and effectively overrides the […]

  • 11.7.06 Slugger posted in Geekery

A new Wordpress plugin was brought to my attention last night, called Slugger. It let’s you put a slug (the name of your post as it will show up in your permalink) right into the content of your post using a simple tag that will be hidden when the post displays. This […]
