  • 4.18.07 The TextMate Subversion Bundle posted in Geekery

Now that you’ve got Subversion working and have a basic understanding of the command line, I’ll show you how I make life a little easier for myself. I experimented with a few graphical clients but actually found working with the TextMate Subversion Bundle to be the easiest way to go. If you need to update your bundle, see the instructions below, otherwise, jump to the second section!

  • 4.14.07 Circle Six Favorites: Spring 2007 posted in Geekery

I need a break from the Subversion series, so I’m taking a moment to list some of the most exciting OS X software and a few of my current favorite websites/apps. I don’t know how long or short the list will end up, so I refuse to either limit myself to 10 or set such high expectations ;).

  • 3.30.07 FreeMind: Free Your Mind posted in Geekery

FreeMind Screen ShotI couldn’t sleep last night. I had an idea that was literally driving me to the brink of insanity with its incessant evolution in my mind. Let’s just say it was a doozy. That being said, what I ended up doing about it worked really, really well, and the tool I chose ended up really impressing me.

  • 3.29.07 Kuler Re-released posted in Design

Adobe’s online color tool, kuler, was re-released along with Adobe Creative Suite CS3. I’m having a little trouble telling what’s new and what was previously available, but I can tell you that it’s still very cool. It features social networking aspects which allow sharing of palettes (downloadable and editable) and RSS feeds. I’m particularly enjoying the RSS feeds which, if you can keep up with them, let you find exciting new color combinations at a very rapid pace. Inspiration by the bucketload.

  • 3.22.07 Twitter to Blog and Back posted in Web Design, Geekery

I had been working on a Twitter interface for the blog that would allow me to do a little micro blogging, but was having trouble getting it to play nice with wp-cache and when it did, it didn’t even show up half the time. So, after hours of frustration I discovered a plugin under development by Alex King called Twitter Tools for Wordpress. It’s in beta, but I have no complaints so far.

  • 3.19.07 NoteMind: Review posted in Geekery

NoteMind Screen ShotI’m playing around with some new software right now called NoteMind. It’s in the vein of DevonNote and Yojimbo (et al), but has some standout features and a simplicity that I adore. I’m within a couple clicks of purchasing it right now. I could actually see it replacing Yojimbo for me, but can’t, at this moment, live without Yojimbo’s tagging and smart folders. However, there are a few things that I think NoteMind does better…

  • 1.24.07 c6 Excerpts: Advanced Excerpts for Wordpress posted in Geekery

c6 Excerpt optionsBasically, this plugin gives you 3 things: The ability to easily add your excerpts from within the content editor, whether that’s an external posting tool or the built in editor in Wordpress. Second, the ability to turn off the automatic paragraph generation (like the no-excerpt-p plugin), and last the option to turn off “texturization” of the excerpt.

  • 1.21.07 Circle Six on Multimedia Apps posted in Geekery

As the final post in our software roundup, I’m going to cover a few of our favorite shareware and freeware multimedia applications. I’m going to go very light on audio, since Randy handles most of our audio needs on a PC platform. He keeps talking about switching, but for the time being I don’t […]

  • 1.20.07 Circle Six on Internet Apps posted in Geekery

As part of our ongoing series, here’s another relatively short list of our favorite OS X applications: Internet Edition. Sorry for any overlap, but I figured it would help to keep things organized by subject, and some of these apps just fit under multiple categories or, like Firefox, get special attention. Browser: Firefox/BonEcho I just wrote […]
