My Moleskine Method
posted in
Geekery
I finally figured out how I wanted to use my Moleskine. It’s not an elaborate hack, it’s just a system. For those of you less inclined toward the complexity of the hPDA, here’s a way to make use of a very beautiful, very sexy notebook while keeping organized and working with whatever computer based system you’ve chosen…Read the rest of My Moleskine Method...

Keeping up with iGTD
posted in
Geekery
I can’t keep up with this guy. He just released version 1.3.4 of iGTD and it boasts a ton of new features. It adds niceties like autocomplete on tags and multiple links for projects and has meaty features like smart folders with “due in x days” filters. Awesome quicksilver integration as well. This is it, I’m sold. Here’s the list of new features from the forum:

iGTD Review: My Saviour
posted in
Geekery
TUAW beat me to the punch, but I’m happy to report that I have finally found the GTD app that I plan to stick with for a good long while now. iGTD has all of the features that I need and none that I don’t want. It’s got the fun of Actiontastic’s Quicksilver integration, the GTD mindset of Midnight Inbox, the multiple views of & ToDo / Task Management Application for Mac">Easy Task Manager, and it doesn’t look too shabby either…Read the rest of iGTD Review: My Saviour...

Circle Six GTD Redux
posted in
Geekery
After 1 week of implementing my new productivity system I’m pleased to report that I’m more productive than I’ve ever been in my life. I’ve made a few minor tweaks that I’ll detail, but the system itself, based mostly on tips and tricks I collected around the net, has served me extremely well. When I first implemented it my inbox got so huge that I felt overwhelmed, but I spent the necessary time processing and then took on my tasks one ata a time and got through an amazing amount of work (and even some play) this week. So here is another look at the system…

GTD and OSX on C6
posted in
Geekery
I’m going to document my current strategy for organization, roughly based on GTD principles, and then update it after a week of heavy testing. To be very honest, I haven’t read David Allen’s book and probably won’t, although if this system works at all I might find enough time to do it ;-). This system was devised with generous heapings of help from postings at Hawkwings and 43 Folders, the authors of which I consider to be serious productivity gurus. So what follows is not their fault, but if you like it, they get a good portion of the credit. That’s fair, right?

Quicksilver, Twitter, and Wordcount
posted in
Geekery
This is a quick hack of the Tweet script by Coda Hale. It adds a quick call to the Unix command wc (wordcount) that checks to make sure your text is under 140 characters before posting to Twitter. It requires Growl for OSX. This version also uses the Twitterrific icon for visual pleasantry, so I highly recommend installing it (it’s a great little program), otherwise removing the single reference to the program in the script.
