  • 8.26.08 Adium and MoodBlast posted in Geekery

As many of you know, the new version of Adium has broken MoodBlast. A few users are also reporting random loss of all preferences after a restart. I’m working to fix both problems, but my schedule is (still) insane. I’ll try to update the blog a little more with progress reports, and watch for a new release soon.

  • 6.28.08 Coming up for air posted in Geekery

So, I haven’t been able to put the time into MoodBlast lately that I’ve wanted to. I have reports that it’s stopped working with the new Adium beta and some Tumblr troubles. I’ve also received a developer key for ping.fm, which could lead to some very cool things… once I find the time to make them happen. I’m hoping that I’ll be able to wrap up the branch I’m working on this week and put out a release that will address immediate concerns. Thanks to everyone for your bug reports and feedback, if I haven’t responded directly to you, it’s not because I didn’t mean to. Chances are, you’ll hear from me eventually…

  • 3.2.08 MoodBlast 3.0.7.x problems posted in Geekery

I’m discovering some fundamental problems with the new preferences system that were apparently dormant for myself and early testers. It’s currently looking like I’ll be merging back the changes in that area while trying to maintain any new functionality. I apologize to anyone who’s having problems… I should have a fix out in the next day or two. Thanks to everyone for feedback and bug reports so far.

  • 3.1.08 MoodBlast now hearts Pownce posted in Geekery

That’s right, we finally got Pownce support. I’ve also fixed the “Start Hidden” feature. The most significant change is actually a complete rewrite of the preference storage code. The new version will make every attempt to convert your previous preferences, but you may end up re-entering them if it fails. I apologize for any inconvenience, but it should completely eradicate the Applescript/file access problems of yesteryear. Have at it.

  • 1.1.08 Looking forward… posted in Circle Six Happenings

I’m still here. Granted, my posting rate will be slower now that I’m blogging for TUAW, but I’m hoping I never stop running out of things to write about here. The focus of the blog may shift a little as time goes on, but it will still be a mac-centric geek blog. You wouldn’t accept anything less, right? I’ve been holding off on a few topics until I find my niche in my new endeavor, at which point I’ll have a better feel for what goes where. And no, MoodBlast isn’t dead either. Far from it. Pownce is coming up soon, and I have some massive interface changes in mind. It’s going to be a fun year!

  • 12.20.07 MoodBlast 3.0 posted in Geekery

It’s here. The ultra-fast, slimmed down, sexier MoodBlast. And it’s still donationware. It’s a long story, but if you want to pretend that there’s a 21 day time limit and some crippled features that will be enabled when you send me money, that’s fine. The (almost complete) changelog is below. You can download the new version using your auto-update or head to the download page.

  • 11.1.07 MY Favorite Leopard Feature posted in Geekery

I would just like to take a moment to point out a new feature in Leopard that hasn’t gotten as much hype as a keyboard nerd like me would like. Backstory: I own 2 diNovo Edge bluetooth keyboards (and a Revolution MX mouse to go with each). I’d been relying on a location switcher that would detect the presence of the keyboard and then run an Applescript to switch the modifier keys (flip Option and Command) for the PC keyboard layout. The Applescripts relied on Universal Access behaviors to manually pull down the menus. Not elegant, but way better than doing it by hand. So anyway…

  • 9.12.07 Pownce API Coming Soon? posted in Geekery

I was a little slow in noticing this, and it was posted nearly a month ago, but according to Shawn Allen, Pownce is still on track for a September release of their API. This would mean new (and better) clients… ones that can actually notify you of messages. And inclusion in MoodBlast, of course. Speaking of…

  • 9.10.07 Jott2iGTD Woes posted in Geekery

jottsnewformat.jpgLooks like my work on Jott2iGTD has been revived. Jott just completely revamped the format of the emails they send, rendering the current parser useless. I’ll be rewriting it as quickly as possible and getting a new version out as soon as I can.
