C6 Top Mac Apps 2007: Productivity
posted in
Geekery
Well, the year is quickly coming to an end and I thought I’d chronicle our latest Mac app adventures. So what makes this particular list of OS X app picks special? First, I’m not doing reruns, so you’re not going to hear about TextMate and Quicksilver all over again. This list assumes you’ve picked up on the basics from at least one of the gazillion top ten lists on Digg, and made your own decisions. Second, this list isn’t a popularity contest. Some of the apps I’m including aren’t popular (yet), some aren’t even widely known. I dig through a lot of apps to find what’s going to work the best for me (and hopefully look good doing it), meaning I offer this list as nothing more than a documentation of my findings. As always, I’d love to hear what you’re using…

iGTD Back From The Brink
posted in
Geekery
Bartek has released the third iGTD Leopard fix, correcting every last issue that had originally forced me to forsake it. So here I am in the middle of getting used to OmniFocus, having already paid for a license, and the comfort of my old ways is calling me back. I’m a little torn, and I’m thinking I’m going to stay put right where I am and ride this little wave of GTD excitement out. Things announced the completion of their Alpha today and promised their mailing list recipients Beta copies by Christmas. OmniFocus has released updates daily (sometimes twice) and have added multiple new features since the release of the public beta. And iGTD2 is looking pretty sweet. So I’m not doing any more importing/exporting/iCal hackery of my extensive todo list until I’ve had a chance to try all of the above and decide on the “one”. I guess this tingly feeling is some kind of “organization excitement”. And here I thought I was just getting annoyed.Read the rest of iGTD Back From The Brink...

Geekery
Tagamac has produced a screencast that takes a look at the upcoming GTD release from Cultured Code: “Things“. It’s an in-depth look that should generate some excitement about what looks like it’s going to be another substantive entry in the OSX GTD app arena. Take a look and then jump on the mailing list on the Things homepage to get on the list for a beta!

Jott2iGTD 1.0
posted in
Geekery
This is a major upgrade to Jott2iGTD, which allows you to add tasks to iGTD with your cell phone (via Jott.com). It improves on the ability to handle a slew of Jotts at once, and adds contexts and projects with Levenshtein guessing (because Jott naturally has trouble interpreting the proper nouns we often use for our project titles), as well as tags, better note support and priority levels…

iGTD and Mail.app
posted in
Geekery
In order to make the most out of my iGTD system, I’ve been learning to use its email integration features as my only organization system for emails/todos. I was previously using a combination of Mailtags and smart folders to create an email sorting system based on a GTD workflow. Now I use iGTD to categorize and tag all of my emails and more effectively integrate them into my action list…
