  • 8.31.08 MoodBlast update, fix for Adium 1.3 bug posted in Geekery

MoodBlast 3.2.2 is out and available on the download page. Other than a few minor interface repairs, it’s just a fix which allows Adium 1.3 to be updated. It was a stupid bug, shouldn’t have taken me as long as it did to find it, but all seems well now. If you have problems, contact me. There are other features in the works, but I dropped back to the stable release and made this fix in the interest of getting it out the door quickly. Enjoy.

  • 8.26.08 Adium and MoodBlast posted in Geekery

As many of you know, the new version of Adium has broken MoodBlast. A few users are also reporting random loss of all preferences after a restart. I’m working to fix both problems, but my schedule is (still) insane. I’ll try to update the blog a little more with progress reports, and watch for a new release soon.

  • 3.25.08 Pownce Posting Error: Solved posted in Geekery

For everyone experiencing posting errors with Pownce, especially prevalent after a reboot, fear not. I believe I’ve found the issue and MoodBlast will version up before I leave for my brother’s wedding on Thursday. I’m seriously considering a redesign, maybe back to a HUD, but time will tell.

There is a beta available that should fix problems that arose with the 3.0.7 series. Please give it a shot and shoot me any feedback or bug reports you have. Special thanks to Adam and everyone who’s been working to help me narrow down a few issues.

  • 3.1.08 MoodBlast now hearts Pownce posted in Geekery

That’s right, we finally got Pownce support. I’ve also fixed the “Start Hidden” feature. The most significant change is actually a complete rewrite of the preference storage code. The new version will make every attempt to convert your previous preferences, but you may end up re-entering them if it fails. I apologize for any inconvenience, but it should completely eradicate the Applescript/file access problems of yesteryear. Have at it.

  • 2.29.08 And then there was Pownce posted in Geekery

And somehow the Pownce API release slipped below my radar last night. I’ve already got the authentication and app registration figured out, just need to add some Obj-C code for posting from MoodBlast. For now, only public messages will be supported. Support for links will be coming soon, and I may work out some parameters for specifying lists of recipients. All in due time.

  • 2.25.08 Yet Another Related Posts Plugin posted in Web Design, Geekery

Michael Erlewine has improved on the Wordpress Related Posts Plugin with Yet Another Related Posts Plugin. An improvement to the full-text search that allows limiting by a relevance threshold allows the most relevant posts to show up at the top of the list, so if you only display 5 results, they’re more likely to be of interest. It also allows control over retrieving both posts and pages. And for those less code-oriented, it can function without modification to your theme and has an improved options screen. Wordpress users should check it out!

  • 1.22.08 Multi-bookmarks in Flock (or Firefox) posted in Geekery

I’ve switched to Flock as my primary browser. Yes, I still load Safari when I miss the speed and beauty, but there are a few plugins I’ve come to depend on that happen to be compatible with Flock. Like Zotero, for example. It’s amazingly well developed for a beta. And having all of my TUAW compatriots displayed in a twitter sidebar prevents me from getting the overload that comes every time I load Twitterific. But I’ve had to find solutions for a couple of issues, one of which I thought I’d share. Safari allows you to set “auto-click” on folders of bookmarks, so that when you click the folder in your toolbar, it loads all of the contained items in tabs. I wanted similar functionality in Flock/Firefox…

  • 12.8.07 C6 Top Mac Apps 2007: Hardware Break posted in Geekery

Well, we’ve gone through about half the software we want to mention. I’m going to take a little break and talk about my favorite (Mac compatible) hardware purchases this year. I didn’t get an iPhone. I live in what can only be referred to as a cellularly-challenged part of Minnesota. I can drive half an hour and buy an iPhone, but if I take it home with me it magically becomes an iPod Touch. Cool trick, but expensive. So, once my 5th Gen iPod gets good and scratched up I’ll just get a Touch… but for now, there are better ways to blow what money I have:
