The Zombie Designer (or “Pownce on These”)
posted in
Geekery
We’re wrapping up what is proving to be one of our biggest months ever at Circle Six Design. More billable hours, more fun software releases, more blood, sweat and tears all around. It’s going to pay off in the end, I’m certain, but right now I’m a zombie. I’ve never worked so many hours in my life. A man should not work 20 hours a day, and if he does, he should take Sundays off. That’s my new plan, right there. No working more than 15 hours and I get weekends off. So there.

From Milwaukee with Love

I slept really well on a futon last night. It’s fun being in a house with an open wireless connection, although I went and forgot the power supply for my MacBook, so this will be short lived. My friend paul shared this with me, though, so if you haven’t seen it, it’s worth a look. Go to maps.google.com and get directions, and type in New York to London. Read the instructions carefully. The map makes it pretty obvious.

Virb Blurb

Thanks to Kristin Pishdadi, I’ve got an account on the beta site for virb.com. It’s a new social networking site. Yes, another social networking site. But I like this one because it has all the charm of Myspace, only they’ve turned the suck way, way down. A nice Ajaxified site with a far more usable interface, it’s got profiles, music, movies and all the usual jazz. Plus, they actually encourage CSS customization and make it very easy to do. You can even control the XHTML layout of the profile portion of the page. Great possibilities. I styled the default layout this evening just to see what I could do with it. I’ll probably have a lot of fun with it, especially if the site takes off. If anyone wants an invite, let me know, I have a few to give away (and I love having friends ;-)).

Subject looks agitated, mildly disturbed.

Random Thoughts, General
After DAYS of putzing and fitzing and bitzenflashensparkzenflyin, I have a copy of CRE Loaded running smoothly (for now) and ready to go live tomorrow. It was one of the worst website ordeals of my life, but one of the best clients I’ve worked with. He was beyond understanding, he was helpful. […]

Friday, at last.

Random Thoughts, Circle Six Happenings, General
This is a photo from Averi’s latest album, Bricks, now showing at the Circle Six Gallery. Well, it’s been a rough week at Circle Six Design. 3 8-hour days of shooting a model wearing expensive clothes is wearing on all of us, including the extra hired help. And the model. But we […]

Where are the geeks?

I had a cool cat stop by the office last week. We talked about starting up agencies and web stuff and geek stuff. It was cool to meet him. But he said something that reinforced what I’ve been feeling about this area and a majority of the web designers around the […]

On a personal note…

Random Thoughts, General
It was my birthday yesterday. It was a pleasant day… even though I worked all day. My dog passed the CGC test thanks to the tutelage (great word) of my wife, Aditi, over at theurbaneanimal. Here at Circle Six we furthered our security measures, finished up a television commercial, photographed some […]
