The Zombie Designer (or “Pownce on These”)
posted in
Geekery
We’re wrapping up what is proving to be one of our biggest months ever at Circle Six Design. More billable hours, more fun software releases, more blood, sweat and tears all around. It’s going to pay off in the end, I’m certain, but right now I’m a zombie. I’ve never worked so many hours in my life. A man should not work 20 hours a day, and if he does, he should take Sundays off. That’s my new plan, right there. No working more than 15 hours and I get weekends off. So there.

Fresh Strawberry Design
posted in
Website Updates
Admittedly not my best design ever, so I saved the microphone theme in its entirety until this is a little more smoothed out, but here’s my latest blog design. It’s got a light-up strawberry. Seriously, touch it. It’s scary. There are a lot of little hidden CSS tricks throughout the site, evidence that I’m getting better at my trade. I’m still very unhappy with the overall readability and having trouble finding that line between fun design and practical design. I’ll get there. I can do one or the other, I’m just working out how to combine them…Read the rest of Fresh Strawberry Design...

c6 Excerpts: Advanced Excerpts for Wordpress
posted in
Geekery
Basically, this plugin gives you 3 things: The ability to easily add your excerpts from within the content editor, whether that’s an external posting tool or the built in editor in Wordpress. Second, the ability to turn off the automatic paragraph generation (like the no-excerpt-p plugin), and last the option to turn off “texturization” of the excerpt.Read the rest of c6 Excerpts: Advanced Excerpts for Wordpress...

Until We Run Out Of Ink

Website Updates
Amidst preparations for our planned expansion, client jobs and work on my next article, I realized that I had sorely neglected the print style sheets for the Circle Six Blog. So now if you decide to read any of the tutorials on this blog offline (heaven forbid you should waste the paper), you […]

Props to the Galleries
posted in
Web Design
I’d like to acknowledge and thank the CSS galleries that thought enough of the new design to feature it on their sites. I don’t usually make the rounds, but I liked this layout enough to give it a shot, and I’ve gotten a fairly heartwarming response. As usual, I’m already sick of […]

New Year, New Design

Web Design, Website Updates
I’m unveiling this new look a week early. I started it out with the intention of finishing it in time for the New Year, but Christmas Eve has turned out to be a pretty dull day and I’ve had plenty of time to figure out all of the Internet Explorer quirks. I […]

The new Circle Six Site
posted in
Website Updates
Okay, it’s up. Presenting the new Circle Six Design homepage. It’s seriously lacking in the portfolio pieces that are essentially the entire backbone of the site, but they’re coming. I’m going to try to add 3-5 a day for the next couple of weeks and see what happens. I’ve detailed […]
