  • 3.2.08 MoodBlast 3.0.7.x problems posted in Geekery

I’m discovering some fundamental problems with the new preferences system that were apparently dormant for myself and early testers. It’s currently looking like I’ll be merging back the changes in that area while trying to maintain any new functionality. I apologize to anyone who’s having problems… I should have a fix out in the next day or two. Thanks to everyone for feedback and bug reports so far.

  • 10.31.07 Spots AND Stripes for MoodBlast 2.49.9 posted in Geekery

Well, based on my testing, version 2.49.9 of MoodBlast should fix the initial Leopard problems while maintaining backwards compatibility. I eagerly await your bug reports. Cut, copy and paste are back for Leopard users. There are a few error reports I got that I was unable to replicate, and I’m hoping that building with the Leopard SDK will just take care of them. We’ll see. New version on the download page.

  • 9.10.07 Jott2iGTD Testers Needed posted in Geekery

There are so many variables involved with making Jott2iGTD function for everyone that I need a little help with testing. Here’s a full packaged version that anyone can download to try out, but I’ll remove the link and move it to the download page once we get all the bugs worked out. If you’re currently experiencing problems with Jott2iGTD, you have nothing to list by trying this…

  • 8.16.07 MoodSwing 4 posted in Geekery

Okay, MoodSwing 4 is ready. I think I’ve fixed the Facebook problems. Facebook changed their authentication procedure on the SSL version of the login page, probably to stop scripts like this. The only way in now is through http, which means your password is sent in plain text. You’ll have to be the judge as to whether that’s worth the risk. I’ve also fixed a bug with Adium where trying to go from Offline status to anything else wouldn’t work. I’ve added some features as described on the download page, and have once again rewritten the preference storage method. I think I’m settled on that part now, but if you’re a current user, I’m afraid you’ll have to enter your passwords one more time. The preferences are all consolidated in one file now. Lastly, I’ve separated the config section into a plain text file that can be put into the Actions folder and, if it exists, will override the defaults in the script, providing a handy way to edit the template defaults without the hassles of loading Script Editor and all the related apps. Check it out at the download page.

  • 7.23.07 Jott2iGTDBugfixes posted in Geekery

We’re slowly and quietly working out the bugs in Jott2iGTD2. Thanks to some very helpful people who didn’t give up, I’ve found a couple of key problems that I wouldn’t otherwise have known about because they didn’t exist on my installs. Thanks to those who have submitted reports so far and keep ‘em coming! Version 2.2 is available, so if you’ve had bad luck at all, try the new one out. If it still doesn’t work for you, let me know. I’m really helpful ;).

  • 2.26.07 Smarter Mailboxes posted in Geekery

So I’ve run into a bug with my system already. First, I found out that you can hack the SmartMailboxes.plist file in your Library/Mail directory and change the IMAPMailboxAttributes of a smart folder from 18 to 16 and it becomes editable. So I set conditions to have it display my unread inbox (minus the spam folder) and my tickler file (MailTags due date before 1 days from today). But, if there aren’t any tickler messages displayed, it won’t show unread messages either. If there’s even one tickler message, everything is fine. I found another person asking this question on the forum, but no answers. Until someone comes up with a better solution or fixes the bug, here’s my answer. Send yourself a message with the subject “Placeholder” and set a due date of 1/1/2006 on it. Depending on how your box is sorted, it should stay at the bottom and will keep your Smart Folder working as an all-purpose GTD Inbox.

  • 1.24.07 Wordpress 2.1 Goodness posted in Web Design, Geekery

I made the switch to Wordpress 2.1 with a grand total of 3 minutes of downtime on my live server. For anyone who’s curious, I did a full backup of the blog and set it up on my local server with MAMP and Headdress. The database was too large to import with […]

  • 1.9.07 Better CSS Debugging with OSX posted in Web Design

CSS has never been the easiest part of web design. Browser inconsistencies, holes in the specs and some things that we just haven’t figured out how to do can leave a designer a little frustrated (and thinking about slicing up an image in Fireworks and building on of those table things). But […]

  • 11.21.06 A little Backpack Bundle Tweaking posted in Geekery

Over my Thanksgiving weekend I’ll be doing some bundle tweaking on the Backpack Bundle for TextMate. I’ve gotten a few suggestions from people, and discovered a few prominent bugs. I’ve already fixed a few, but I’m not going to release it again until I take care of everything on the docket. Error when you […]
