Giving Flock some love
posted in
Geekery
Okay, it’s time for a little more in depth post on why I’m loving Flock. The easy part of that answer is that it uses the Mozilla rendering engine while adding some very useful (to me) functionality (Twitter sidebar, blog tools, media stream…) and provides compatibility with most Firefox plugins. The more complex answer is that with a little effort, Flock can be customized to do way more than advertised…

Looking forward…
posted in
Circle Six Happenings
I’m still here. Granted, my posting rate will be slower now that I’m blogging for TUAW, but I’m hoping I never stop running out of things to write about here. The focus of the blog may shift a little as time goes on, but it will still be a mac-centric geek blog. You wouldn’t accept anything less, right? I’ve been holding off on a few topics until I find my niche in my new endeavor, at which point I’ll have a better feel for what goes where. And no, MoodBlast isn’t dead either. Far from it. Pownce is coming up soon, and I have some massive interface changes in mind. It’s going to be a fun year!

MoodBlast 2.49.6 (and a little blogging)
posted in
Geekery
Alright, 2.49.6 is out without a lot of fanfare. New interface, new search and replace algorithms, etc. I’ve promised myself that I will blog about something besides MoodBlast before I completely lose the ability to do so…Read the rest of MoodBlast 2.49.6 (and a little blogging)...

UTW-rpc 1.5r: Fix for Fix
posted in
Geekery
I decided not to compensate for the new changes in xmlrpc.php regarding the date/time format, but rather leave it up to the user to upgrade their Ruby install if it was broken. The conversation that details this and links to more resources can be found here. The version that compensates is still available, but for those who’ve managed to get their Wordpress 2.2.1+ blog working with TextMate without the plugin, version 1.5r is for you. Sorry for any confusion and my indecision. Details on the download page.

Four Days, One Measly Update
posted in
Circle Six Happenings, General
Somehow, four days have crept by in blog time. Which is approximately four days in Earth time, as well. Circle Six has been overflowing with projects and we’re really excited to be completely swamped. We’re recovering from a recent three-day photo shoot for St. Croix, and all of the post-processing that goes with it has our photographer, Peter, pretty busy. He posted one of the more interesting shots on his blog…

Autotag WP2.2 Compatible
posted in
Web Design, Geekery
For those blogging with Autotag, I finally got around to testing with Wordpress 2.2. It works! Now I’m working on an updated version of both UTW-RPC and Autotag that will work with the Simple Tagging plugin as well as Ultimate Tag Warrior. I’m setting it up to automatically determine which plugin is active and use that for the tag functions. It should be ready this week.

To Whom It May Concern
posted in
General
I thought I’d jot a quick post tonight. I’ve sorely neglected the blog for a few days now, having become obsessed with a complete overhaul of the main Circle Six Design site. It’s going very well, a Victorian/Noir design with a touch of javascript and a few maneuvers that I pulled out of thin air to impress the ladies. I also fixed the link on 30Cal so if you haven’t tried it yet, check it out. One of my visitors sent me an enhancement for the Wordpress Theme Bundle, so look for an updated release of that very soon. I’m seriously considering doing all of the more advanced tags and still planning to get it up-to-date with the new codex. All this and more, as soon as I get the new site online. Oh, and I’m building the new site on WP 2.2, so it’s giving me a chance to test my plugins and bundles for errors, which I’ll report/update soon.

FlickrMate 1.7
posted in
Geekery
An update to TextMate brings UI changes to the FlickrMate bundle. I’ve also added a fix for a bug discovered by Mike McClenaghan that prevents uploading photos with spaces in their names. If you have the latest version of TextMate (if you use SVN be sure to update your Support folder), then head for the download page for the latest version.
