After being featured at TUAW yesterday and getting a few comments, I decided to take a closer look at MoodSwing. I’ve added a few new @keywords, more Skype support, Jaiku support, and the ability to clear out your mood message on your chat clients…

MoodSwing, The Script
posted in
Geekery
Okay, one person suggested it and I felt like trying. Here’s a mostly functional version of the Moody Applescript that will simultaneously send your status and mood to iChat, Skype, Twitter and Adium, depending on what’s currently available. It checks to see what’s running, and if you have a Twitter password in your keychain. It works relatively well for me, although not completely dependable. I’m putting it out there for people to play with, but have no intention of taking bug reports or offering support. Have at it. Use the instructions on the Moody page to install.

Getting Moody with Skype
posted in
Geekery
Here’s my fun project for the evening. It’s more than likely that this has been done a million times, but I was bored and wanted the mental exercise, so here’s the result. Moody is a little action for Quicksilver that will let you type your status and mood string and send it to Skype in one fell swoop…

Holy Cow! Jott2iGTD 1.1
posted in
Geekery
I had a bit of a brainstorm. We can run the sqlite3 command line utility as a shell command and get the output as an array. No extra libraries needed. Sorry to anyone who’s already installed sqlite3-ruby, but it won’t hurt anything ;). The download page has been updated with version 1.1, which is back to just the applescript and ruby script with no external libraries required.

30Cal Upgrade
posted in
Geekery
Yep, a major upgrade already. And I still got some work done today. My server got hacked, so that took up part of the day, but anyway… The new version (1.5) is now an application and has improved support for recurring events and skipped dates in recurring events. The API Key and User Token are now requested by the script and stored externally so you can upgrade without copying and pasting. And thanks to that innovation, the file is now an app so that it’s easier to run. Check the download page for the latest version.

30cal: 30 Boxes and iCal
posted in
Geekery
And here we go again, off on another Applescript adventure. This one is a doozy, I think. It’s going straight to it’s own download page because there WILL be updates. What it does is let you send any event or entire calendar from iCal to your 30 Boxes calendar with support for notes, urls, locations, repeating events, tags, start time/date, end time/date, and more. You can use it to make the switch from iCal to 30 Boxes, or just send important events to a shared calendar. You can even use it to edit your events locally with the comfort of iCal and then send them to 30 Boxes without opening a web browser. Your choice! Download here.
