UTW-RPC and AutoTag Bundle

UTW-RPC is a Wordpress 2.2.1+ (only) plugin that adds xmlrpc hooks to Wordpress that allow external applications to get and return Ultimate Tag Warrior or Simple Tagging tags with posts. It incorporates the Robin Lu hack, but saves you the trouble of editing any files and you won’t lose changes when upgrading. It also adds hooks for external programs to be able to access the tag database to incorporate as they see fit. This portion of the plugin is read-only and does not allow the external programs to modify the tag database directly, other than to add tags through the post save function.

Installation

Unzip the file and upload UTW-rpc.php to your plugins directory and activate it from your plugins admin page. From various external editors you should now be able to simply use the tags/keywords field to edit your tags with either Simple Tagging or Ultimate Tag Warrior enabled. The plugin will automatically determine which tagging system is in use. This plugin is currently for version 2.2.3 of Wordpress!

If you are having trouble fetching posts in TextMate with Wordpress 2.2.1+, you’re running the stock version of Ruby. The regular 1.6 version below compensates for the new dateTime format. The AutoTag Bundle

The AutoTag Bundle provides 3 commands and several support files that interface with the UTW-rpc plugin. They allow you to retrieve your tag and synonym database and either select from the whole database or use a Porter Stemming Algorithm to compare the content of the post you just typed to the tags in your database and suggest appropriate, previously used tags. This allows for more overlap in your tags and a more accurate use of your tags. If you’ve written about new topics, there is a third command that will analyze your post for word frequency and suggest the most common words in your post.

There is also now an option to access Yahoo Suggest from TextMate by typing “yahoo” and hitting tab. This can be done from the end of a Keywords: header or on a new line. Suggested tags will be returned in the same manner as the other commands.

Installation

Unzip the file. Double click the .tmBundle file to add it to TextMate. Use the Bundle Editor (Bundles->Bundle Editor->Show Bundle Editor) to rename and change shortcuts as desired.
