onebox: Quicksilver, Growl and 30 Boxes

onebox allows you to add events and todo items to 30 Boxes with quicksilver for OS X.

Changelog:

  • 4.15.07: Version 1.0 Released!
  • 5.10.07: Version 2, Added todo items
  • 5.11.07: Version 2.1, Added tagging for todo items (see usage notes)

Installation

Download the script (below) and open it.

Log in to your 30 Boxes account and go to this page. You’ll see in the sample link your API Key and User Token. You’ll need to put both of these into their appropriate places in the script.

Place the script in your ~/Library/Application Support/Quicksilver/Actions folder, creating it if necessary. Enable Advanced Features needs to be checked on the Quicksilver preference pane. A restart of Quicksilver was necessary to get the action to show up.

Usage

Once it’s installed, you can invoke quicksilver with ⌃-. or ⌃-space and hit the period key to enter text mode. Entries must now be prefixed with either todo: or event:. For a todo, just enter “todo:Pick up groceries” and for an event use the usual 30 Boxes syntax: “event:Meeting with Henry (remember to shine your shoes) on Tuesday at 3pm”. Then hit tab and type “one” until the onebox action comes up and hit enter to send it to your 30 boxes account.

As of version 2.1, you can add tags to todo items by using the syntax “todo: buy groceries [tag1 tag2 tag3]” where the tags are separated with a space and delineated with square brackets. Tags are added to events using the regular 30 Boxes command line syntax.
