30Cal: iCal and 30 Boxes
30Cal allows you to send events and entire calendars to 30 Boxes from iCal.app. It supports description, location, notes, start and end date/time, recurring events, skipped dates, urls and more. You can use it to send a single event to a shared calendar or to make a switch and put your whole iCal onto 30 Boxes. It even supports tagging, and offers the calendar name as a default tag. By color coding the tag in 30 Boxes, you can replicate your iCal setup online.
Changelog:
- 5.12.07: Version 1.0, Initial Release
- 5.12.07: Version 1.5, Improved support for repeating events, external storage of API Key and User Token, and distribution as an application
Installation
Download and unzip the file, which will leave you with 30Cal.app. Put this file wherever you like, probably /Applications.
You’ll need to have Growl for OS X installed.
Log in to your 30 Boxes account and go to this page. You’ll see in the sample link your API Key and User Token. You’ll need both of these when you first run the program. As of version 1.5, once you’ve entered them, they will be saved to your preferences and will not be overwritten by future upgrades.
Usage
First you’ll be presented with a dialog that lets you select what type of upload to perform: Single Event or Entire Calendar. Make your choice and hit OK.
Calendar/Event Selection
With either choice, you’ll be asked to pick a calendar next, and be presented with a list of all the calendars you have in iCal. Note that this will include any imported calendars you have! Obviously, if you have a link to your 30 Boxes calendar, and you send it to 30 Boxes, well, that’s just silly.
If you chose to send a single event, you’ll be presented with a list of events next. Select the event and click OK.
Tagging
Now you get a chance to tag your event/calendar. If you’re uploading an entire calendar, then the tags you enter will apply to every event in the calendar. A good way to batch upload a group of events and separate them is to create a temporary calendar and move the events into it, then upload that calendar. Tags are separated by spaces.
Finishing
Successful uploads are noted by Growl. If you have 30 Boxes open at the time, you’ll need to refresh your page to see the update.
