  • 11.15.07 Together at Last posted in Geekery

Have you ever given up looking for something and then it found you the next day? That’s how I found Together tonight. I had developed half of a new, nearly perfect (for me) project management system using VoodooPad Pro and its awesome ability to turn freeform thought into organized structure. I could link everything I needed to, including images and files, but I desperately wanted something with a sweet GUI to hold and preview project related documents…

  • 11.13.07 WikityWidget: Easiest Wiki Ever posted in Geekery

I discovered it quite by accident. I was scrolling through Quicksilver plugins and found one for WicketyWidget. WTF? I followed a link and found what appeared to be an outdated page for a Tiger only widget. I took a chance and installed it anyway. In combination with Quicksilver, I’m absolutely loving it…

  • 11.10.07 Path Finder, Lost and Found posted in Geekery

This post was originally going to be about how I had decided to part ways with Path Finder and free up a little extra CPU/RAM for myself. There were some improvements in Finder that I was pretty psyched about, and I figured out workarounds with Quicksilver for a lot of the things I missed most about Path Finder. And then, tonight, a new release from Cocoatech brings me running joyfully back. I absolutely love developers who are as excited to stay on top of new technology as I am :). I’ll share some of my Quicksilver solutions in a second, but first, here’s what’s new in Path Finder…

  • 11.07.07 Safari (my new crush) posted in Web Design, Geekery

Besides being enamored with all things Leopard, I’ve developed an intense and burning love for Safari. With a couple of exceptional plugins, it’s become my general web browser of choice. The powerhouse that is Firefox+addons may still be hard to leave behind for webdev, but for beauty, ease of use and overall integration (and awesome applescripting), Safari is definitely my new top choice…

  • 11.02.07 mailBlast, Mobile Blasting posted in Geekery

Granted, it’s not nearly the ideal solution to a mobile MoodBlast, but this script will allow you to send an email from anywhere and blast from your home computer. You can use whatever rules you like to trigger it and to make it secure. Once called, the script checks the subject to see if it begins with “blast”. If it does, it will send the remainder of the string to MoodBlast…

  • 11.01.07 Man Alive posted in Geekery

I just discovered Bwana while looking for something completely different. It can open and format man pages right in your web browser. I’ve found other utilities that beat paging in Terminal, but this is really nice. I’ve tried it in Firefox (man [manpage]) and in Safari (man://[manpage]) and it works great. If you’re feeling geeky or just wondering what the geek next to you is talking about, check it out. There’s nothing like a good, old-fashioned man page to put some hair on your chest.

  • 11.01.07 MY Favorite Leopard Feature posted in Geekery

I would just like to take a moment to point out a new feature in Leopard that hasn’t gotten as much hype as a keyboard nerd like me would like. Backstory: I own 2 diNovo Edge bluetooth keyboards (and a Revolution MX mouse to go with each). I’d been relying on a location switcher that would detect the presence of the keyboard and then run an Applescript to switch the modifier keys (flip Option and Command) for the PC keyboard layout. The Applescripts relied on Universal Access behaviors to manually pull down the menus. Not elegant, but way better than doing it by hand. So anyway…
