Brainstorm

Note: This post is over a year old. You may want to check later in this blog to see if there is new information.

Mindmeister has exposed an API. Hmmmm… Jott2Mindmeister? I’m working on porting the flickr ruby wrapper right now, should lead to some interesting possibilities. My first project is actually just a little script that will push a line from TextMate to a mind map for later brainstorming. It’s almost identical to the Flickr API, so the transition shouldn’t be too difficult…

In other news, I’m getting frustrated with the Pownce desktop client. And the lack of an API. Most of my frustration stems from the fact that the app seems to show so much promise and could really benefit my office and my life in general. But I can’t create threaded replies from the desktop client, it lacks most of the features of Twitterific, and I can’t get the thing to beep when I get a message. So the solution I’m working on is to have Pownce send email notifications and then build a small email processor that works like Jott2iGTD, letting Mail sort the messages into the trash and run the processor, using different alert sounds configurable based on who the message is from. I need to take a closer look at the notification emails before I determine the scope of possibilities. Maybe I’ll just have it read the Pownce out loud ;). Thanks to Christy for pointing out the obvious on this one.
