Geekery
I hope everyone thinks this is as cool as I do ;). Jott2iGTD is a pair of scripts that allows you to easily post tasks to iGTD from your cell phone using Jott.com. All you need is (rather obviously), iGTD, a Jott account, and a cell phone. Check out the download page for more info. -

Quick iGTD Next Actions with Quicksilver
posted in
Geekery
I started digging through the sqlite3 database for iGTD to see what fun I could have with it. Here’s a little ruby script that, in combination with quicksilver, will pop up a large type window of your top 5 next actions… -

iGTD and Mail.app
posted in
Geekery
In order to make the most out of my iGTD system, I’ve been learning to use its email integration features as my only organization system for emails/todos. I was previously using a combination of Mailtags and smart folders to create an email sorting system based on a GTD workflow. Now I use iGTD to categorize and tag all of my emails and more effectively integrate them into my action list…

XMLRPC Delays
posted in
Geekery
I’m putting the UTW-rpc bundle on hold for a minute while the Wordpress xmlrpc crew works out a few kinks in the date formatting. Because the plugin directly replaces the post and retrieve functions in the xmlrpc.php file, it needs to mirror the final outcome of the debate. So I think I’ll just avoid releasing a plugin that will break with an update that’s almost certain to come out immediately after. Well, more to the point, the plugin would break the update, albeit in an unnoticeable fashion (rendering it ineffective).

Pandora Better
posted in
Geekery
I have a new favorite Pandora interface: PandoraJam. It’s a native Cocoa app (Mac only) that gives you keyboard shortcuts for Pandora, last.fm scrobbling and recording to iTunes with album cover tagging. It’s shareware ($15). I’m having a blast with it. I’m uncertain of the legality of it, but I’m enjoying taking my Pandora stations on the road with my iPod… -

My Personal iGTD

I get a lot of searches coming in related to iGTD. So, inspired by a recent article on 43 Folders, I decided to offer a few of my own tricks for working with what I consider to be one of the best GTD apps for the mac.

Longing for Japan
posted in
Geekery
I haven’t been to Japan since, I don’t know, EVER. But I was recently (like 2 minutes ago), stunned to find out that they pay 12 times less for their broadband connections on average. So, you say, you get what you pay for, right? Then I wonder why their average speed is 12 times faster? [Reference: Bandwidth Report] [Hat Tip: Jeff Jarvis]

Website Updates
Well, I’ve been designing all of my new Wordpress sites with version 2.2, but just now finally got around to upgrading the blog. It seemed like a fairly painless experience with just a couple of plugin related glitches. I did it through Subversion so I’ll revert if anything goes terribly wrong. If you notice anything amiss on the blog, please let me know! In the meantime I’ve picked up work again on the Wordpress Theme Bundle for TextMate and will be releasing an updated version with a whole bunch of new, more advanced tags and options. I’m also almost through the testing phase for UTW-rpc and have a new AutoTag bundle to go with it. Still open to Beta Testers on that one, if you want in, let me know.
