I personally like Lucida Sans Typewriter. Black BG, white test, no anti-aliasing.

Admittedly, I’ve never played much with monospaced fonts. As a graphic designer, I’ve put my time into my art and let my code rest on Monaco. No more, however, as a couple of fonts were just brought to my attention via the TextMate list that have sparked a new interest in monospace fonts for me…
The first one I checked out was Inconsolata. It’s an opensource font that’s pretty cool, although you’ll want to bump your font size up a point or two unless you’ve got better eyes than I do.
It was noted on the list that the new release from Panic, Coda (which I will be reviewing shortly), contains a font that they claim as their own but is actually Bitstream Vera Sans Mono. There is an opensource version of this font that contains even more characters called DejaVu Vera Sans Mono. It’s what I’m typing in right now and I’m pretty giddy about it.
I’m sure this new world of monospace fonts will probably lead to some kind of o/c behavior for me, but for now I’m happy just to have moved beyond the amateur realm of Monaco. TextMate seems happy that I’ve finally taken an interest in aesthetics beyond switching to the Twilight theme…
