After some initial bugs, the latest release of iDropper came out today. I got a patch emailed to me that took care of my SFTP problems and am now a very happy user of iDropper. I had initially purchased iDropper but had been unable to use it with my primary server due to a lack of SFTP support. Now that it’s been added (and patched up), I’m happy to promote it as a great client uploading solution.
iDropper creates “uploaders” for both Mac and Windows platforms that you can give to clients (or friends, grandmothers, etc.). Unlike some other similar apps, an iDropper license doesn’t limit you to uploading to a single domain. In fact, for the price, iDropper is the best deal I’ve found. For a small agency, service bureau or anyone who needs to provide less-than-savvy computer users on multiple platforms with an easy means of uploading to their server, iDropper is an ideal solution. With the addition of SFTP support and some recent bugfixes, iDropper can now provide a simple, drag and drop uploader to a specific directory on your server. Making and emailing uploaders to clients on Mac or PC is a breeze and you can assign different directories to each as needed.
The support from iDropper developer David Scribner has been very good. He’s been quite patient with my lack of research before asking questions and quick to respond to my complaints. And ultimately, he delivered a version that worked wonderfully for me, quickly and professionally. As always, customer service is a major part of my review of any software, and iDropper support passes the muster.
iDropper comes in 2 versions, Personal and Enterprise. Both are available as trial downloads. Enterprise adds quite a few options (and a heavier price tag), including the ability to brand the uploaders with your own logo.
You can download the newest patches of iDropper Personal and Enterprise here and at the website.
