Brett,

I am doing my own business website, I think it would be the best time to try ModX, so i will... Textpattern is quite good, but the pace of development is rather slow, but is very dependable so I will stick with it for a while.

In a month or so I will share my experience comparing both.
Hopefully in my business blog at <a href="http://www.trumpetinteractive.com/" rel="nofollow">Trumpet Interactive.com</a>

Talk to you soon : )

P.S. Very cool plugin you have to edit a comment AFTER it's saved, could you tell me which is it?

I've never given Textpattern a fair chance. I've heard great things about it. I like MODx. My one complaint is that it's one step removed from PHP coding, and all of the code has to be done within the CMS itself. That makes me miss Wordpress.

But my clients with large sites love MODx for ease of use and I love it for extensibility and customization (and standards based web design).

Brett,

I am struggling with using a CMS instead of a very light system like Wordpress, or just straight PHP.

I am considering MODX now, but it looks very much like Textpattern with the added AJAX look and the WHYIWYG editor built in.

Everything else seems very similar, which is good and bad. Textpattern takes a long time to customize, no FTP, all done in the interface... and a lot of similar concepts like "forms", "pages", "styles"... I wish it were simpler.

Have you tried Textpattern? Any advice or useful comparison?

By the way I like your site very much, and is simple old Wordpress : )

Interesting direction you are taking. Personally I think typographic insights - based on 500 years of working with type - are underestimated by many (web)designers. I am aware that the Web differs from books - of course. But a lot of bad communication on the Net can be helped by a correct typographical treatment.
Full of anticipation about the new design - the current one is still good to go though IMHO.
