CrashPlan Redemption

Note: This post is over a year and a half old. You may want to check later in this blog to see if there is new information.

CrashPlanOkay, I am publicly apologizing for jumping the gun and airing my frustration with CrashPlan before even attempting to contact their customer support. Just to prove what good guys they are they graciously extended an offer of help in response. Well, between the new version that was released yesterday and the single tip left by Matthew in the comments of that post (open port 4242), I now have CrashPlan backing up 20 Gigs over my wireless network in the background while I work, eat and sleep. It will track changes, archive versions and I can eventually set up multiple offsite servers. I plan to have everyone at Circle Six using CrashPlan by the end of the month, and I’m not just saying that because I’m trying to make up for irresponsible posting. The reason I was so frustrated to begin with was because I was so excited about CrashPlan when it was announced.

So, to sum up:

  • I’m sorry for being a jerk
  • CrashPlan is working for me on both Mac and PC
  • CrashPlan tech support is on the ball

Now hopefully I can solve my gripes about other software I’m similarly excited about/frustrated with.
