The sidebar is messed up for me (OSX 10.4.8, Firefox 2.0). The sidebar text that is supposed to be below the microphone is bumped all the way below the content, but before “the fold”. Just FYI. Excellent design otherwise though!

Note: This post is over a year and a half old. You may want to check later in this blog to see if there is new information.

I’ve revised the Microphone theme to handle multiple resolutions. It needs some tweaking and I haven’t tested in Explorer yet. I kind of rushed development on it and may have made it live prematurely. Please let me know if you run into any major problems. The goal was to make a friendlier layout for people with smaller screens, something less dominated by the microphone. If you size your browser window down to 800px or smaller you should see the change. You may have to refresh, depending on your browser. There’s also a style for screens larger than 1024 pixels, to make better use of space.
I’ve also added some hackery to the 404 page that will try to figure out where you meant to go by turning your misshapen URL into keywords and searching for related posts. And every page now has a hidden landing option for people coming from search engines. So there. I’m off to eat.

The important information I need for debugging is what resolution your screen is and how wide your browser is set. The layout changes based on the size of the screen, and the smaller layout places the sidebar content where you describe but expands it across the screen (except for the lists, those stay vertical). So if that’s what’s happening, then all is as it should be, otherwise, let me know!
Thanks for the feedback!
My screen resolution is 1600x1200, with my browser sized about 1280x1024. However, it appears as though you fixed my problem, the sidebar is appearing in the correct place now, nicely done :)
Again, kudos on the design, love it.
Brett,
Just thought I would drop a line saying your redesign inspired a total redesign of my own blog, located at http://www.billda.com.
Again, nicely done.
