Server Switch-a-roo

Note: This post is over a year and a half old. You may want to check later in this blog to see if there is new information.

Well, I’m now a server admin. Like I didn’t have enough to worry about. But Circle Six Design had hit a point where it no longer made sense to use a shared host but we’re not big enough to have a full time IT person yet. So it’s up to me to manage this thing. Security and PHP bugs. And all the fun of multiple versions of PHP!

So you may have noticed some downtime, and you may continue to notice some bugs as we get switched over fully. The DNS propagated for me almost simultaneously with another blog link from TUAW today. Fortunately, we’re prepared for the traffic now. Unfortunately, they linked through a GMANE article with a broken link (Allan doesn’t like murl…) and I’m getting a lot of hits on my 404 page. Good thing I fancied it up during our down time ;->. Now I just need to make a landing page that can figure out where they meant to go.

So the Wordpress Bundle has been posted, and my next post will likely be a complete n00bz guide to TextMate. I’ve figured out how to fit on one page everything you need to know to figure TM out for yourself, and then where to go with the real questions. Look for it soon. Like next year (tomorrow).
