The first release of this bundle is out now, check it out!
I’m about halfway finished with a TextMate interface for 37signal’s Backpack. It makes full use of their free account and allows you to post reminders from selections and add notes to different pages. It will eventually be able to handle lists and to-do lists and I’m hoping it will integrate with the GTD bundles that already exist, but that’s contingent upon interest from the community as I am not (yet) a user of those bundles.
I am currently setting everything up to use a tm_dialog interface. For example, when you select text and add it as a note, it pops up a dialog with the note text in the body and lets you add a title and select which page to add the note to. This kind of seems like a requirement to me. However, reminders could easily be added from straight text, by just typing “+20 Let the dog out” and having it submitted as a reminder. That would set a reminder for 20 minutes that would text my cell to remind me to let Chance out to do his dirty business. That should be part of the bundle when I’m finished.
I think the ability to make full use of the various features of Backpack will be a great addition to TextMate, although the response on the list (none) has been underwhelming. I’ll finish the bundle anyway, because I know I’ll use it almost daily. I use Backpack to maintain my life. And TextMate is where I spend a good portion of my life. So why not combine the two? If you have any suggestions, let me know!
