I Heart Not Microsoft

Note: This post is over a year and a half old. You may want to check later in this blog to see if there is new information.

Jeffrey Zeldman writes in IE7 CSS tweak show and tell:

Once IE7 gains critical mass, a lot of our current thinking about ems and pixels and such will go out the window. I’ll write about that soon, probably on A List Apart.

Funny how Microsoft has the power to change all the good that was coming of accessibility. I remember a time not so long ago when IE7 was being touted by Microsoft as a major advance in CSS compatibility and promoting web standards. At least that’s what I seem to remember them saying. Now it’s all about security, security and some more security. Firefox is adding security but, strangely enough, they’re not breaking web pages with their new release. Microsoft makes me want to stick with print design. But I guess it takes as much effort to deal with a printer as it does with a wayward browser, and there’s more help available on the net for browser problems. And a web page bug is less permanent and costly than a printing mistake. Hmmm. Maybe the web isn’t so bad.

To add on to my wonderful week, I got the sad news that my grandmother (my last remaining grandparent) passed away at midnight last night. I’ll be making a trip to Missouri this weekend for a memorial service. Honestly, I’m impressed with my own ability to take all this in stride…
