Circle Six Design recently designed it’s first FULL wedding, from start to finish. Well, besides my own, I guess. This video is a compliation of photos from the rehearsal and the big day. We handled the logo, invitations, websites, electronic RSVP’s, engraved mugs, programs, videography and photography, and post wedding memorabilia. I actually find event production, while extremely stressful, to be very rewarding. You actually get to see all of your efforts culminate in one day, as opposed to advertising campaigns where you usually have to go out of your way just to quantify the results of your work at all.
So here’s the rundown of the events leading up to the big day, just to give you an idea what goes into a wedding from our agency’s perspective.
Logo design
The bride had a lot of input on the design of the logo, but we went through over 15 revisions nonetheless (or perhaps because of). We had to get the perfect relationship between line width and curve depth on a leaf outline. It was tedious, but in the end it was gratifying to come out with a logo that pleased both us and the couple. The logo was the basis for everything that followed, so we approached it in the same way that we do when we create positioning statements for new clients: if the foundation is faulty, everything else is a waste of time. This is not, of course, a reference to any flaws in the relationship of the happy couple…
An embosser was made from the logo and used to emboss gold circle stickers that were used on the invitations, programs and various other collateral for the wedding (including a hanging piece on the cake).
Invitations\Website
The invitations and website had to be designed together, as the invitations sent the guests to the website to RSVP. So, using the logo as a basis, we built a website that matched the brides requests for the invitations. Paper was ordered and plans were made for the construction of the invitation. Because of the relatively small budget of the wedding, we found creative ways to cut costs on both the website and the invitations. The end product, in both cases, was customized, unique and very professional. The bride was proud to send out the invitation and we received many calls from people who visited the wedding website and wanted one of their own.
The electronic RSVP used a relatively simple form that saved the results to a database and notified the couple of each response via email. The information could be downloaded at any time by the couple as a CSV file and sorted and counted using some Excel macros. This wedding was a new experience for us in that it was catered and required the guests to let us know the names and meal choices of every person attending, and had to database each response accordingly. That just meant a more complicated form, but as usual, the response percentage was still higher than traditional snail mail RSVPs.
Gifts for the Guests
Glass mugs were ordered and engraved with the wedding logo to be given out as gifts at the wedding.
Photography\Videography
Randy and I handled the videotaping of the wedding using 2 HD videocameras. We showed up for the rehearsal and marked out our spots, which involved some repositioning at strategic times. We also set up to record audio in several different ways. Photography was handled by 2 of our freelancers, both of whom did an amazing job. The final video (still being edited) will include video of the ceremony as well as a photo montage and some still shots embedded in the footage. The video, as well as select wedding pictures, will be made available on the wedding website after the couple returns from their honeymoon. The couple will have access to the site for the next 2 years to update it as they wish. (They can continue the contract indefinitely, but 2 years are included in the package.)
Memorabilia
The couple is provided with a DVD and a photobook, the post-wedding website and a package of wedding collateral to use as they wish. And a bill ;-).
