Okay, this is another uber-geeky post, but I promise I’ll get back to some design related topics over the weekend… this is, after all, supposed to be a geek/design blog.
I signed up for a year of TextDrive yesterday. My primary motivation being to get my feet wet with Ruby on Rails. I’ve gotten a few apps up and running, just for giggles, including Mephisto CMS, which I’m really liking. I’ve figured out how to extend the applications and am learning my way around the code. It’s kinda fun. Now I just have to learn how to theme a new CMS and I might have a new package for clients to use. I’m not positive that any of the rails CMS packages are stable enough (at least running within Textdrive’s apparent memory constraints) to handle any large traffic, but the interfaces are very elegant and I love the extensibility of the code.
Amd as a side note, my code for TextMate’s blogging bundle that fetches categories from your blog and gives you a select menu was added (with a few changes) to the bundle distribution! I’m officially a contributor.
