Microsoft pulls AJAX

Note: This post is over 2 years old. You may want to check later in this blog to see if there is new information.

Were you impressed with the AJAXy search on Windows Live Beta? Because they just pulled it. I don’t know why.

In the meantime, Google added a little AJAX popup to their search interface, so when you click the “more” link on the main search page, you can choose from more Google apps without having to load a new page. It’s just a little thing, but it’s an intelligent use of the interface.

And I’m not sure what to think about this one yet, but if it makes life easier, I’ll look into it: Onlywire. My biggest peeve with all the social bookmarking and RSS and everything that makes life on the web cooler than it used to be is the amount of work it takes to organize it all. I want physical 3D interfaces where I can just grab and move information around, ala Minority Report! Until then, I’ll take whatever shortcuts I can.

Didn’t forget, just narrowed the list down. Pageflakes did win best startpage, though, and maybe should have made the list… This is by no means a “Top” list, just what I’ve been looking at lately.
