I’m very intrigued by Expanse, a new CMS on the market that seems to promise standards based content management with AJAX functionality. It may be a dream come true for my clients. It looks to have all of the simplicity of Wordpress with more out-of-the-box functionality. I don’t think it will ever replace Wordpress for me, being a hand-on type of guy who likes to warp PHP code to do things it wasn’t meant to do, but it may serve well as a base for small to medium websites. I’m excited to try it out… it’s only $30 and comes with gallery support (thumbnails, cropping and all!) built in.
If you haven’t heard the buzz yet, you should check out Crazy Egg. It’s not free (there’s a demo), but it’s so freaking cool it’s worth paying for. So you already know how many unique visitors come to your site every day, right (if you don’t, this isn’t for you)? So now you can see exactly which links and images and widgets they’re clicking on while they’re there. Trying to figure out where to put your ad banners so they get clicked but don’t interrupt your design? Check it out.

We are free, we have do have a free plan that lets you track 5000 visits per month, for free :-)

I consider that plan to be a demo, as you can really only track 2 pages. However, you are correct and I am a liar ;-). There is a free plan available, and it’s definitely worth checking out. I already was able to determine that people weren’t figuring out the sliding panes on our homepage thanks to the click tracking at Crazy Egg. Time for a redesign!
