Supergeek, supergeek…

Note: This post is over 2 years old. You may want to check later in this blog to see if there is new information.

AutoTag ScreenshotI’ve had requests for my contact form code trickling in steadily. I’ve almost worked up the motivation to clean up the code. I did put together a README and a credits list to go with the package, so I don’t have to feel so bad about sharing it now.

But I’m less embarrassed by the code for my Ultimate Tag Warrior modification (), and hope to share it with the world soon. I’ve had some interest in it on the boards, but can’t get the attention of the plugin’s creator. I’ll keep trying. Might be the only way I’ll ever get famous ;-).

As of today, it has the following features: It prunes your entered text down to unique words and removes html tags and words smaller than a predefined size. Then it sorts the list and submits it via xml to a php processor. A fuzzy search is run against the tags database for matches within a predefined range and returns primary links. A second fuzzy search runs against the synonyms database and returns the associated tags as secondary links. Lastly, a count is run on all the words that are not related to tags currently in the database and those that occur more than x times are displayed as potential tags to add. All the returned tags can be clicked to add them to your post. If you don’t know what tagging is, or you don’t blog, then this doesn’t matter to you and I’m extremely surprised you’ve read this far… as for the rest of you, show your interest by contacting me and letting me know.
